it's a story that you've heard a thousand times,
SO TAKE A SEAT AND GET LOST WITH ME.
Harlow sighed softly as she glanced at the large clock on the wall for what seemed like the millionth time today. One more hour. But still, it was a considerably large amount of time to 'work', if that's what you could even call it. All harlow had done all day was take money and hand out shoes to kids and their not so eager parents. One more hour seemed like an eternity. Luckily though, there had been one more person beside her throughout the day to keep her company, and seeing as she lived with this said person, it made it a whole lot easier to be happy and content at work.
Turning to him now she couldn't help but give him a soft smile. It didn't make sense to her how she got along with him so well.. at least.. most of the time. She actually really liked living with him so far. It was a place to stay, wasn't it? Valin was good company to keep, they were always talking or laughing about whatever ran through his or her mind, and best of all? She could do whatever she wanted. She'd do that in the first place honestly, but it was just the fact that Harlow felt as if she could do anything, be anything as long as it didn't involve drugs. That was a sore subject for them both, and even now the girl wouldn't talk about it with him. All he needed to know was that she was having a hard time staying away from them. And her near-nightly withdrawals told him exactly that.
Harlow felt safe around him, she couldn't deny that. Not only did she feel safe, but she felt as if she could talk to him about whatever she wanted, except feelings of course. Harlow had no problem with that at all though. She had never been one to discuss what she was thinking and what was on her mind, she definitely wasn't about to start either. Harlow was just fine the way she was. Her marriage wasn't exactly how she had planned it when she was a little girl, but that was all right. As harlow had gotten older and realized that life wasn't fair she had already perceived that she wouldn't marry, she'd be happily single forever with her ways. After all, how could a near prostitute settle down? She had to have money and a place to stay, and with no one taking you in for a job because you had never worked before.. it wasn't wasn't going to happen. She had found a safe haven in Valin, and she wasn't about to bite the hand that fed her. The marriage had been unexpected yes, bit it wasn't like she actually had to love him.. right? This whole thing would be over as soon as the fuss died down, and that was exactly what she was waiting for.
It wasn't that she didn't like or him or hated living with him, Harlow had never been good at being restricted though. Did he expect her not to sleep around still? Did he expect her to abide by the natural marriage law? Harlow had been iffy on the matter for a long time, but she had voiced none of her questions or concerns. She would figure it out in due time. With a soft sigh Harlow turned her attention to her manager, who had just addressed her. Nodding her head softly she got up quickly and headed to the back, where she was supposed to get everything in order for the next day. It wasn't a one person job and the manager knew that quite well. In harlow's mind, the manager had just assumed that Valin would just go along with her, which was a good assumption because he normally did. With a gentle smile Harlow turned to him, still sitting in the chair beside the one she had just gotten out of, clearing her throat quickly she began, coming, slowpoke?, she said grinning.
