It was late Saturday afternoon when Lily had stirred in her bed. The sun was shining directly in her eyes which caused her to groan and slowly sit up. Her green eyes fell on the glowing red numbers on her alarm clock. It was already one in the afternoon. Sighing she pulled herself from her bed and moved across the room to her mirror. She scanned herself in the full length mirror, she was getting thinner with the chemo not being to take much in and her skin was paler than normal. But for once she wasn’t feeling sick. A smile came to her lips as she realized this brushing her fingers through her hair she knew exactly what she wanted to do to celebrate. She headed to her bathroom stripping from her clothes once she got there she stepped into the shower and let the hot water wash over her unnaturally cold body.
It was fifteen minutes later that she emerged from the steam of the bathroom. Her torso wrapped in a white fluffy towel and she brushed out her hair as she walked down the hall back into the bedroom. Lily began to pull clothes from her closet as she dropped the towel from her body. She slid on a bikini, along with some jean shorts and a tank top before moving to her cosmetic mirror. There she added some foundation to make her face look a little less pale, and some eyeliner and mascara to highlight her green eyes. Once she was satisfied with her make up she let her long hair fall past her shoulders as she searched her room for her cell phone.
She found it ten minutes later beneath her pillow. Lily had a way with misplacing things, she also had a way with falling down. She was probably the biggest clutz in the universe. Sighing she sat on her bed and begin to scan through the few contacts she had. Being new to town she didn’t have many friends. It could of been because she was shy or perhaps even scared to make friends. Lily hadn’t been sick for awhile and lately with her cancer she was having good days and bad days. But they had been mostly good since she had gotten here. Well except for the occasional day where she laid in bed and puked all day. But being a cancer patient that was something she was use too and she learned to deal with it. Lily had moved here for a new start and to her that meant friends who weren’t just her friends because they felt sorry for her. She wanted friends that liked her for who she was.
Besides that the doctors had told her they felt with all these good days there was a definite chance of remission and that would be a completely new slate for her. So why tell people about something that was sure to be over soon anyway? Lily smiled as she found the name she wanted. Xander was one of the only real friends she had so far. He was funny and sweet and she knew she could always count on him. Slowly she typed him a text hey I’m going to the beach meet me there?
then she sent it. After sending her text she gathered everything she would need in a bag before sliding on her flip flops and heading out the door. The walk to the beach wasn’t far and she was there within twenty minutes. There was a few people around so Lily moved to a quiet part of the beach before laying her towel down and sliding her flip flops off before laying back on the towel. A smile came to her lips as she let the sun warm her skin. Today was going to be a great day. After the fight with Lily he’d shifted a town over needing money before he could move on properly and still hoping one of the jobs he’d applied for would work out. The call from her had made him want to come back, to be here and stay with her. It was so strange for him since he’d never wanted to stay somewhere before, he’d always been happy moving into town to work and save money then moving on soon as he had enough. He couldn’t ever remember meeting someone who was as close to him as Lily was, he normally kept people at too much of a distance to avoid people getting this close. He was still sorting it all out in his own head but he couldn’t be focused on that today since he was doing training for work. They’d given him the job, he had two weeks training before he would be working his full hours. He hoped this went well since the pay would be good to help Lily out at the house.
He’d gotten up that morning and gotten dressed for work letting Copper out as he did and letting him back in before he headed back into the bedroom to kiss Lily’s cheek before heading out. Getting there he checked in so they’d clock his time till he got his employee card and got to his training. To him it was a bit boring to be learning things he already knew but it wasn’t exactly something he could avoid since they had to go through the process before he could actually start working since it was company policy. He understood that but it didn’t change how bored he was. He checked his phone on his lunch break at eleven and tucked it back into his pocket remembering to turn it on silent as he got back to his training. He needed to go in on the weekend to have one of the other members of staff available to show him some of the stuff without having to take time off of their work for it. He was ready to get the hell out of there by about 1:30 and was glad he was done with everything.
He checked his phone smiling as he saw a text from Lily and shot her one back in answer as he dug his keys out of his pocket. Yeah I’ll be there babe. he sent and moved to the car checking in the backseat collection of clothes he never bothered taking out to make sure he had swim trunks. He headed back into the building changing into them and a t-shirt with some flip-flops and headed back out to his car heading for the beach. He wasn’t the kind of guy to get road-rage but the amount of traffic was frustrating and he almost wished it was a weekday so everyone would be at work and not out here driving around when he was trying to get to the beach. He hoped she was feeling alright and hoped that the beach-crowd wouldn’t be too bad since he wasn’t the biggest fan of crowds.
After fighting the crowd he was pulling into a spot by the beach parking his car and climbing out locking it as he glanced at the few people around. There didn’t be too many and he considered a moment before opening the trunk and grabbing his guitar out so he could play for her and maybe finish a song. He headed onto the beach looking for Lily as he went and finding her. He grinned as he moved over to her and dropped onto the sand by her, Hey babe…enjoying the sun? he asked as he set the guitar aside careful to set it so sand wouldn’t get inside but not too worried since it was his old one not the good guitar. He kept the good one in the house because he didn’t want it ruined and kept this one in the car so he’d have one with him anywhere he went in case he got inspired. | Tagged: lillian/amber || Words: 696 || Muse: strong Notes: hope it's okay <3 sorry it took me so long

The sun soaked into her skin warming her and causing her to smile and her phone began to ring beside her. Smiling she reached into her bag and pulled out to see Xander’s name flash onto the screen. Her smile widened and Lily opened the text to see that he would be joining her. She didn’t bother replying and she slid her phone back into her bag sighing contently with the way things were working out for her. Xander was a big part of Lily’s life and she never thought she would have someone like him in her life ever. He was sweet, funny, outgoing and overall amazing. She was positive that she loved him and that there was no other boy who would ever make her feel the same. But she had been holding back on telling him that.
Lily didn’t normally get close to boys because of her disease it wasn’t fair to them and on her bad days she felt as if Xander should be anywhere but near her but he would never leave no matter how much she begged him too. There were days that she sat at home and imagined what it would be like if she told him she loved him. And then she thought about why she shouldn’t. Lily didn’t know if she would get a second remission and if she didn’t she wasn’t sure how long the doctors could keep her alive. She didn’t want Xander to get to attached to her and she definitely didn’t want to hurt him.
With a sigh Lily brushed her hair away from her face and brushed her thoughts away from her mind. For now she would focus on today and the fact that Xander would be by her side soon. Smiling at that thought she laid back in the sand keeping her eyes closed and running her fingers over the warm sand. It wasn’t long until she heard someone approach her and sit beside her. Smiling wide she lifted herself from the sand and opened her eyes to see Xander at her side. ’’I am I’m so glad its getting warmer’’
she replied as looked him over slightly. Leaning over she pressed her lips to his cheek letting them linger there a bit before pulling away and snuggling into his side. ‘’I missed you, how was work?’’ she asked softly looking at him before allowing her eyes to scan the beach in front of her. The water was calm and though there was quite a few people they were at the farther away from the center of the beach allowing Lily and Xander some peace and quiet. Her gaze came back to him and she looked at his guitar with a smile as she crawled into his lap and reached her fingers over to touch it gingerly before looking back at him. ’’Are you going to play? Or do you want to swim?’’ she asked as she leaned her back against his chest with a soft happy sigh.
