It was Michelle’s answer to finding Cameron. After she broke things off with him, she had been seeing her previous high school teacher. In high school, she had always had a little girl crush on him. He was new, interesting, and athletic. All the things that she had been attracted to. But it was impossible to really go after anything while she was a student and he was a teacher, even if he showed a slight interest in her. Then she met Cameron Malone. He was stationed in Austin, TX at the time. A Marine. Michelle had developed a love for the United States Military, mostly from conversations with the history teacher. He really ignited a love and respect for the people who were dying for their country. Michelle had decided to deliver monthly packages to the troops and Cameron had been one of them. She fell in love easily, and when he proposed she couldn’t have been happier.
The problem was... she didn’t realize how difficult it would be to be engaged and worrying everyday if your fiancé would be killed. It took a toll on her, and after six months of being engaged she picked up a pen and wrote the hardest letter she had ever written in her life: to end the engagement. Along with the Dear John letter, she sent her ring. The teacher, Scott, had been there for her while Cam was away. Soon they were in a relationship, and not even a month later, Michelle found herself pregnant.
She showed up on base a week ago, with her daughter, when she found out that Cam had been recently deployed again and wasn’t expected to return until the end of August. Once she realized this, Michelle wasn’t sure where to go next. It was originally the plan to show up and win him back, taking all measures to make sure that he would be with her again. She even contemplated lying and saying that Madison, her daughter, was his. Honestly, she wished that she was. Cameron would have never left her alone to raise a child, but now she was in Honolulu with no plans on where to go next. She was scheduled to stay for 2 weeks at a hotel. After finding out that Cameron was gone, she decided to treat this as a vacation. She took a semester off of school to be able to spend time with her daughter and to come here to be with Cameron. Her family was supportive behind everything she did and they loved Cameron from the beginning.
A week into her stay, she met an absolutely beautiful girl who instantly took a liking toward her. Julianne Whitmore was her name and she was the most confident, self-assured girl that Michelle had ever met. They had a lot of things in common, which may be why they seemed to click so fast. However, the closer that Michelle got to Julie, the more nervous she became. Eventually, Michelle would tell Julie the truth about her past and why she was here. The questions were bound to come, especially after the blonde shared so much about what was happening in her life. Michelle needed a friend, and Julie seemed to be the perfect person for her.
Currently, she was relaxing in a lounge chair on the porch of the Whitmore’s residence. The Feoras’ were considered to be wealthy in TX, since her father was a very successful sports agent. Her eldest brother also played for the Dallas Cowboys, earning them even more fame and money. But the Whitmore’s house was absolutely stunning. Michelle was spoiled by Julie, always inviting her over and letting the maids watch Madison for her. Michelle loved her daughter, but it was nice to relax and be around people her age for a change. Being twenty and a single mother was never in her 5-year plan. But life has a funny way of throwing things at you. Her long, brown hair was pulled up into a high ponytail with her bangs kept in place with two bobby pins. It was incredible how beautiful it was. She was wearing an orange bikini with cut-off denim shorts, and a pair of over-sized sunglasses.
”Thank you,” Michelle said, taking the margarita from her friend. She leaned back, feeling almost catlike as she basked in the sun. Texas was always pretty good for her, but there wasn’t a chance that she would be laying out in the middle of January. When she left it was in the 40s, which made her shiver just thinking about it. ”I know, it’s absolutely beautiful,” she smiled slightly, closing her eyes. ”I bet you appreciate it more now that you aren’t living here, though.” Michelle learned a lot about taking things for granted. She took Cam for granted... She even took having Scott around for granted. Now both men were gone and she couldn’t fix it. ”When are you leaving?” Michelle asked, a little sadness in her voice. She wasn’t sure what her next step was... would she go back to Texas until August rolled around? Or would she move here? What would she do? Michelle was going to the University of Texas to study broadcast journalism. Maybe U of H had a decent program that she would be able to get into. Her grades were decent, but then what would she do with Madison while she was in class? Julie would be gone, and after buying an apartment, Michelle wasn’t sure if her parents would put out that kind of money... especially when they wanted her home.
Michelle took a sip of the margarita letting the alcohol relax her. She tried not to worry so much, but it was getting difficult. She glanced over at Julie and saw a smile on her lips, but couldn’t read her facial expression due to the sunglasses. And then the question came. Michelle knew Julie would start to question her past eventually, but now she hoped that it wouldn’t be so soon. The question made Michelle laugh though, a genuine laugh. It was the type of question that Michelle could have expected from Julie. ”What do you think?” Michelle answered, pushing her glasses up to give her a wink. There she was, being mysterious again. This time she would actually have to answer, so she put a finger up to let Julie know that she wasn’t done. She grabbed her Blackberry, which was beside her, and scrolled through her pictures.
When she finally reached the last picture that she took with Scott, she handed the phone to Julie. ”I’ll let you decide how attractive he is,” she told her, placing her glasses back on her face. Michelle took another sip of the margarita, waiting for Julie’s reaction. Scott was very good-looking, at least in her opinion. However, Julie was able to judge by herself. By the looks of her new “friend” Harrison, Michelle could assume what her type was.
