Dex roamed the halls for a short period of time. Not knowing what to do throughout the day, after classes were so boring for the young male. The blonde male liked being alone, and didn't mind the silence. He enjoyed it, but this didn't mean he didn't like the presence of others completely. It was just some set him on edge and even some scared him, well most did. Those who didn't know how he could get when they got too close scared him the most. So he had a little anxiety problems. Well actually the kid had more than just one problem. Most which he rarely showed and which kept him from being far from normal. Though being normal was over rated right? Well Dexter would do a lot to be normal and just fit in. He didn't want to be judged. That's why he liked being alone. He was at peace. Dexter thought he would just be better off alone, no matter how much he wanted to feel the embrace of another human being.
Dexter did indulge himself in one thing, something his parents allowed him to express at least one of his passions and that was music. besides reading and indulging himself in a good book, music was another good escape from reality. The young male was very skilled in three instruments such as the piano, violin, and the flute. He had always had a strong passion for music. He had nothing better to do, nowhere else to go. So what better escape than the auditorium thought Dex. Afraid to just barge in there, he went to the nearest art or music teacher and asked if he could use the piano on the far side of the stage. Not wanting to be rude or get into trouble later for not asking. The teacher saw no harm in it, no harm in Dexter so the young women agreed.
As much as Dexter loved to play the piano, he had more stage fright to let anyone watch him. The last person to see any performance of his was his mother and father. A soft smile played at the edge of his lips as the women agreed to leave him alone and play in peace. He started off rusty at first it had been almost a total of six months since he played last. He started off with intro of 'bring me to life' by evanescence he liked that song, and when he lasted played it on the piano by himself it sounded great. All he needed to do was get back into the rhythm then eventually the whole auditorium was filled with the sweet melody.

Schuyler had some spare time between his last class and his next one. There was over an hour and a half that he needed to kill. Sighing to himself, his vans slapped against the floor beneath him as he looked around for something to do. He wasn’t the type to usually complain about things, he had learned at a young age that it didn’t get you what you wanted. He was raised by a good family, as unorthodox as they were, it was still a good family life. His dad had been very young when he was brought in to the world, and he never even knew his mother. But, that was alright to him. His father would bend over backwards for him in a heartbeat, he always put Schuyler first. No matter the circumstances. His father was one of his best friends, and that was exactly where his love for music stemmed from. His father had been big in to singing and the guitar and it had rubbed off on Schuyler as he got older. His aunt and his uncle were both in to music as well, so it definitely was easy for him to really get in to it. He didn’t think he was all that great at what he did, but it always put a smile on his face when he played and that was all that mattered to him. It was something that made him happy and he was going to keep doing it until it didn’t satisfy him anymore.
Moving towards the auditorium, he heard something that caught his attention. The sound of music was coming from inside. Biting down on his full bottom lip, he slowly made his way in to the auditorium. He made sure not to make any noise as he crept in to the empty room. His gaze moved around trying to hunt down who was filling the room with such a beautiful melody. It was familiar and Schuyler was able to pinpoint the song with no troubles. The person playing the song was doing it justice in every way possible. His gaze landed on the person who was making such beautiful music and he couldn’t help but smile. The boy that was making the music was gorgeous, he had known this for some time, but he had never imagined that he could play the piano so beautifully. Slowly approaching the piano, he made sure to keep himself unknown, not wanting to startle the other boy. Grinning to himself, he propped himself up on the stage and waited until the music ended for him to make himself known. He realized that he could probably sit here all day just listening to Dexter play, it was probably one of the sweetest sounds he had ever heard before. Once the music finally stopped, he stood up and slowly made his way over to Dexter. Leaning against the piano casually he smiled at him, I didn’t know you could play the piano. He stated looking the other boy over slowly. And quite beautifully, might I add. He wouldn’t deny the fact that he had developed a little crush on the other boy, but who could blame him really. Dexter was sweet, smart and not to mention handsome. And now come to find out that he was musically inclined? He was like the total package and that only intrigued the tattooed teenager more.

If there was one thing that Schuyler liked it was the support he had from his family. No matter what he decided to do, his family had his back. Of course, his grandmother had nearly shit a brick when she sat her grandson covered in tattoos just like her son (his father). Though, after the initial shock wore off, everything seemed to fall in to place after that. Of course, his father, his grandmother and his aunt had instilled the practice of using condoms, because they had all been teen parents and they did not want Schu to follow in their footsteps. He didn’t blame them, he didn’t think he was grown up enough to take care of a child, that just didn’t fit in to his agenda right now. Though, he supposed that it helped that half of the people he had dated in the past had been guys; which hadn’t been a big deal in his family either because his uncle was gay and his father had been bi-curious while he was growing up. Open-mindedness ran in their family and no one was quick to judge; more so because no one had room to judge, because they hadn’t exactly grown up perfect either.
Hearing the sweet music that was coming from the blonde male at the piano, made him smile. Music always seemed to sooth Schuyler in a way that nothing else could. It seemed even better coming from the fingers of Dexter. He enjoyed the melody while it lasted and slowly made his way to the piano, making sure that he didn’t disturb Dexter. From what he had observed from the boy, he seemed a bit anxious when around lots of people, or certain people. Schuyler bit down on his bottom lip and smiled a little bit as he was finally noticed by the other male. Brushing a hand through his dark hair, he nodded his head slightly, You’re welcome… it really was beautiful though. He stated truthfully. Leaning an elbow on the piano, he let his eyes slowly move over the other boy’s frame. Schuyler wasn’t the type of guy to beat around the bush too much, he liked Dexter. He found Dexter very attractive and he wasn’t going to pass up an opportunity to check him out. There was nothing more attractive to him than someone that was playing an instrument, or even just sitting behind one. The look on Dexter’s face only made him look even more adorable, pressing his lips together, he brushed his fingers through his hair again. I have some time to kill between classes, just thought I’d walk around… heard you playing and couldn’t resist finding out who was making that incredible sound. A sly grin spread over Schuyler’s face and he moved a little closer to Dexter. How come I never knew you played the piano? He questioned, slowly moving to lean in a little closer to Dexter, his eyes fixating on the good looking blonde boy.

It didn’t take long for Schuyler to realize that he was different than a lot of the kids that he grew up with. Sure, he liked girls just like all of his guy friends, but he also found himself attracted to guys at a young age as well. His family had always been open, so it wasn’t really that big of a deal, though some of his friends didn’t exactly like it when they found out that he was in to guys. The ones that didn’t like it, Schu told them exactly what they could do with their close-mindedness and the ones that didn’t care, it seemed to only bring them closer. Schuyler was the all or nothing type of person. You either took what he gave you, or you got the hell out of dodge. He didn’t like to play games and he was usually pretty straight forward with things. If he liked someone, no matter their sex or their orientation, he would let them know. However, that being said, things were different when it came to Dexter. There was something that held Schuyler back from being so honest with the other male. Why? He wasn’t really sure, maybe he was scared of being rejected, which was something that Schuyler had never really worried about before. He felt different around Dex than he did around other people. They talked to each other occasionally throughout classes and such and Schuyler had found himself instantly attracted to the blonde boy. Who wouldn’t be though? He was incredibly good looking, he was sweet and the fact that he was musically inclined only made him more attractive and appealing in Schu’s eyes.
He hadn’t spoken of his crush on the blonde male, only because he didn’t want to risk freaking him out. Schuyler had always been opening about his sexuality since he first figured out that he didn’t just like girls, he liked boys too. He was never shy when it came to that and usually he was there flirting openly with the guy or girl that he liked, but with Dexter he had to take a different route. He didn’t mind though, it was a bit of a challenge, but Schuyler liked a challenge every now and again. There was something nice about it and it kept him on his toes. Though, a small part of him wished it was a little bit easier for him to tell if Dexter was interested or not. Sometimes he wasn’t sure if the boy was blushing because of his shyness or because he liked him, too. Recently he had been working up the nerve to test the waters, to see if maybe Dexter wanted to hang out outside of school, that was always the first step right? Get him out of school and see if there was a way that they could hang out. Maybe grab something to eat or maybe they could work on some homework together or something. Biting down on his bottom lip, he glanced back at Dexter and shook his head, Don’t sell yourself short, Dex… you were really, really good. He nodded, not caring that he sounded like he was kissing the other boy’s ass. When it came to music, Schuyler had an ear for talent and Dexter had just that. It was rather refreshing to him, and the other male’s modesty only seemed to make him more appealing in Schuyler’s eyes. A small grin tugged at Schu’s lips and he shook his head a little bit, That’s a shame, you’re really good. I’d love to hear you play more sometime… He stated casually as he moved to sit down next to Dexter on the piano bench. He didn’t want to be invasive or anything, but he felt the need to be closer to Dexter. Chewing on his bottom lip, he rested a hand on the white keys and scaled them for a second before glancing over at Dexter. I… um… so I was wondering if… Schuyler decided to drop his guard and just jump in to the water head first, where the spark of courage came from he wasn’t really sure, but he didn’t care anymore. Maybe you’d like to go out with me sometime… like grab a bite to eat or… go see a movie or something… Schuyler chewed on his bottom lip, rubbing a tattooed hand over his thigh, his palms starting to sweat just a little as he waited for Dexter’s response.

Growing up, Schuyler hadn’t really been around a stable relationship. His grandfather left his grandmother shortly after she had his uncle Chase. His mother, he never even met the woman before (and quite honestly he didn’t ever care to meet her). His aunt, well she was in and out of relationships like Schuyler was in and out of sleep. So, any relationships that he had , never seemed to really last for him. Though, that didn’t mean he didn’t like to give them a shot and most of the time Schuyler blamed the people he chose to be in relationships with. He didn’t exactly pick the best guys and girls, a lot of them had brought him in to his slight stage of rebellion, that was still stirring around inside of him. Others, well they were people that Schuyler liked, but there just hadn’t been any spark. That didn’t mean he got rid of them right away though, he would try and make something work, because all in all Schuyler didn’t like to be alone – he preferred to have someone with him. That was something, he felt like he picked that trait up from his uncle Chase, he had adapted a bit of the clingy nature. He liked it though, he wouldn’t deny it. He liked having someone to hang on to and to cuddle with – he was man enough to admit that out loud and he didn’t care who knew.
When it came to his boyfriends and girlfriends, however, he was pickier about the boys than he was about the girls. Girls he always found himself easily attracted to, where as with guys it was a different story. Schuyler had to see something different in the person in order to find himself attracted to them. With Dexter, it was hard not to be attracted to him. He was handsome, there was just something unique about his look that attracted Schuyler to him. He was sweet; the boy’s shyness was adorable and it only made Schuyler want to get to know him more. He was just the total package; Schuyler didn’t see how he couldn’t have a dozen people chasing after him at one time. He had seen his fair share of girls that were gaga over him, but Dex seemed a little oblivious to them, which he didn’t mind because that only left the door open for him and he liked his odds when he wasn’t fighting off a bunch of people to get to what he wanted.
It seemed that whenever Schuyler was around Dexter he couldn’t ever stop smiling and most of the times his cheeks were aching by the time he left the other male’s presence. It was nice though, he liked smiling a lot. It put him in a good mood, then again everything about Dexter put him in a good mood – especially hearing him play the piano. Music spoke to Schuyler like nothing else did and to know that they shared a similar interest only made him grow fonder of the blonde. You’re welcome. He stated casually, trying to play it off calm and collected. That was usually how Schuyler was, he picked that trait up from his father and it was one that he was actually thankful for. He could play it easy going and calm even in moments when he wanted to jump up and down and act like a crazy person. His brow arched slightly at Dex’s words and the grin on his face only grew larger, A private show? I would really, really like that… He stated openly as he chewed on his full bottom lip. The idea of getting more one-on-one time with Dexter sounded good to him. Licking his lips, he brushed his fingers over the side of the piano as he asked his question. Waiting for an answer, only seemed to make his calm and collected demeanor shatter a little bit. He couldn’t help but feel like a fumbling mess as he awaited Dexter’s answer. When the blonde male finally spoke up he couldn’t help but smile and he nodded his head. I… yeah? That’s great… I mean… yeah… He blushed a little as he fumbled over his words. It wasn’t everyday that he got tongue tied or stumbled over what he wanted to say. Swallowing, he tried to pull himself together. I.. when would you like… to go out? He chewed on his bottom lip and looked up to meet Dexter’s gaze. He didn’t want to seem like he was ready to just get up now and take him out, even though he was. He had to play it coo, he’d let Dexter decide when he wanted to go out with him and then he would see how things would go from there. He tried to keep the childish feelings inside at bay, but it was starting to get more and more difficult.

Flirting seemed to be in the Love’s bloodline. His father had always been very good at it and from what he could tell his aunt Sydney had been pretty good at it as well. The two of them had been through their share of relationships and flings and what not and he had pretty much picked up what he knew from his father. Paul Love was someone that most people could look up to, sure his past wasn’t picture perfect, but whose was? He had turned his life around and made himself a better person for not only himself, but for Schuyler as well. Schuyler idolized his father and could only hope to be half the man that he was. So far, he thought he was doing a pretty okay job. He wasn’t the kind of guy to cause a lot of trouble, but he didn’t follow the rules to a tee. He liked to play things his way most of the time and it wasn’t like he was out getting arrested or doing all sorts of drugs or anything like that. He drank a little bit, he smoked the occasional blunt, but not much anymore and he had a few people that he had fooled around with – but he wasn’t like a complete wild child. He had his spurts of rebellion here and there, but he wasn’t about to get the cuffs slapped on him anytime soon.
He was always careful when it came to people, Schuyler knew that not everyone in the world was like himself or his family and with those people he knew he had to tread carefully. Sometimes, he couldn’t be as blunt and forward as he wanted to be and other times, he had to be. In this case, with Dexter, he knew that he couldn’t be like that. He had to take things slowly, he had to find a way to get in and when he did, he didn’t want to get out. Schuyler found that it was easy to get lost in time when he was with Dexter, it was like nothing else really mattered around him, as long as he was talking to Dex everything seemed to be just fine with him. There was just something about talking to him that was fulfilling to Schuyler and he admitted that it was probably the crush that he had on the other male. He didn’t, however, remember being like this with anyone else that he had ever been around so that definitely made Dexter stand out from the rest. He liked that though, he wasn’t looking for someone that just made him feel the same way that everyone else did. No matter what people thought or said, they were always looking for that someone that made their heart beat faster and their palms sweat – even if it was only a subconscious want or desire.
When Schuyler first met Dexter he was quiet and didn’t say much to him when he tried to engage in conversation. But the more Schuyler tried and the more time that they had together it seemed like the other male warmed up to him and for that he was grateful. They had similar interest and that kept the conversation easy and flowing between them. It wasn’t often that you’d get an awkward silence between them, unless of course they were getting scolded by a professor for talking while he was lecturing or something of the sort. The smile on his face never even thought about fading as Dexter spoke, he nodded his head a little bit and chewed on his bottom lip. I’d really like that. I do… enjoy your playing that is. It just flows, you have great technique… He bit down on his bottom lip, brushing a heavily tattooed hand through his black hair. I don’t know how anyone couldn’t like your playing. He stated matter-of-factly.
Tapping his fingers on his legs absently in a steady rhythm, sure that he was beating along to some random tune that was now stuck in his head – but that didn’t matter. He wasn’t focused on that, he was focused on the blonde male sitting next to him and waiting for his response to his question. He didn’t want to seem too eager, but he really wanted to take Dexter out. He wanted to get to know him and he wanted to get closer to him. From what he knew of Dexter, he knew that he was a little bit sheltered and he was okay with that, he didn’t want to rush in to anything. He really just wanted to take his time to get to know him and see if there was something there between them. They had a connection as friends, so who’s to say that there wasn’t going to be more? Pressing his lips together he smiled even wider when Dexter finally provided him with an answer. Friday? Friday is perfect actually… He nodded his head a little bit and smiled, chewing on his bottom lip a little nervously. He didn’t know why, he had never really been a nervous sort of person, but things were different with Dexter for whatever reason. Well, I’ve got class in like an hour… but I would definitely love to hear you play something else, if you don’t mind…? Schuyler questioned, his heart pounding in his chest dangerously fast. Part of him wondered if Dexter could hear it… or maybe he could even see it through Schuyler’s shirt. Glancing down quickly, he pushed the thought aside and turned his attention back to the blonde male, smiling as he played a few keys on the piano, it seemed like the boy could make even the simplest thing even more amazing than it was.
