Emma groaned into her pillow. It was probably really early, and she probably had only gotten about five or so hours of sleep, but right now she would love nothing more than to give a certain someone a chill pill. “Mommy!” The two year old bounced on the bed, trying to get his mother up. The problem about having a child was they always were up by the crack of dawn. And Charlie hated sleep. He was the complete opposite in that part of her gene pool. Emma usually could sleep the night away and be okay. “Moooooom.” The little boy groaned as he stopped jumping. Emma lifted her head, rubbing her green eyes and pushing her red hair out of her face, indicating to him that she was definitely awake. Although she definitely did not want to be awake. The little boy let out a squeal and ran into the living room before she even had another thought process through her brain. She never was functioning in the morning, ever. She always took about an hour or two to wake up and even then you were lucky to get her to remember something. Finally, she threw the blackest off her small body and walked into the kitchen, making both of them breakfast. The good thing about Charlie was that he was never picky about anything. He would eat whatever you put under his nose and call it that.
When she cracked open the eggs, the toast had just came out of the toaster. So she called Charlie over to his mini table and then set his toast in front of him. He always had a picky way of eating his food though. He would eat the sides first. So in this case it was the toast. And then he would eat the eggs that had to be scrambled with cheese over the top. So he would eat everything, he just was picky in the order that he ate. It was kind of weird how he resembled both his mom and his dad, although Emma hadn’t heard from his dad since she told him that she was pregnant. And it was not really that bad of a pregnancy, but she wouldn’t want to do it again any time soon. The girl watched her son as he tore into his eggs now. It was stupid of her really, to think that Caleb would have stayed when she told him. And it was dumb for her to end up telling him. Honestly Emma did not know what she was thinking. Maybe she thought Caleb would have been better than that, but look what thinking got her. Single momhood and a billion dirty diapers. But she loved him very much, so it was a nice trade.
By the time Charlie was done eating Emma looked down at him and pushed his hair out of his face again before asking if he wanted to go to the park. It had been a long while since they went together, and a day out would probably do them both good. It’s not that she loved keeping him cooped up from the world. He was just sort of shy. And she thought that social situations gave him near panic attacks. That was really the only flaw in her perfect child. Well, perfect to her obviously. But Charlie eagerly nodded and threw his plate in the sink before running to his room. Emma followed him, a big, silly grin on her pretty face.
She had quickly gotten him dressed. The boy was always easy to get ready when he wanted to go somewhere, so today he was ready fairly quick. That was obviously a good thing, seeing as Emma had to do something with her hair, and then she had to pick out what outfit to wear. She settled on khaki shorts and a white tank top before quickly throwing on a turquoise blue cardigan. Then she threw on her matching turquoise heels and threw her hair up in a bun. There, they were both ready. That was the nice thing about California. It was always so nice here.
Charlie had ran off before Emma was even done getting out of the car. He had joined the other children in their games of hide and seek and tag. She grabbed a couple magazines that she had laying around and locked her shitty little vehicle before sitting down on a bench. She crossed her thin legs and then started reading, knowing that she was going to be here for a long while now.
